Use the appliance only for its intended purpose. , WARNING TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING: ~ a) Use this appliance only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. appliance, switch power off at the service panel and lock the service disconnecting means to prevent power from being switched on accidentally. If the service disconnecting means cannot be locked, securely fasten a prominent warning device, such as a tag, to the service panel. The lit "­/+" indicator shows the programmed time: 1st indicator from the left 2nd indicator from the left 3rd indicator from the left 4th indicator from the left = = = = 20 hours 30 hours 40 hours 50 hours ^ Use the "­/+" button to select the desired time. ^ Store the selection by pressing the grease/charcoal filter button. ^ Press the On/Off button to turn off the fan. If the procedure is not stored within 4 minutes of programming the hood will automatically default to the "old" data. ^ Press the Delayed Shut Down and grease/charcoal filter button at the same time. The red indicator for the grease filter timer and one of the "­/+" indicators will flash. 15 Operation Reprogramming the charcoal filter timer The active charcoal filter can only be used in recirculation mode and cannot be used to exhaust fumes. The charcoal filter timer is not preset. Before using the hood in recirculation mode, the charcoal filter timer must be programmed. The lit indicator shows the programmed time: 1st indicator from the left 2nd indicator from the left 3rd indicator from the left 4th indicator from the left = 120 hours = 180 hours = 240 hours = endless ^ Use the "­/+" button to select the desired time. ^ Turn off the fan using the On/Off button. ^ Store the selection by pressing the grease/charcoal filter button. ^ Press the "+" and the grease/charcoal filter buttons at the same time. The blue indicator for the grease/charcoal filter and one of the "­/+" indicators will flash. If the procedure is not stored within 4 minutes of programming, the hood will automatically default to the "old" data. 16 Cleaning and Care , WARNING TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING: Before cleaning or servicing the hood, disconnect it from the power supply, see "Important Safety Instructions". Avoid: ­ cleaning agents containing soda, acids, chlorides or thinners, ­ abrasive cleaning agents e. g. ^ When putting the grease filter back make sure that the locking clip is facing the cooking surface. ^ If the filter is incorrectly installed, insert a small screwdriver into the slit along its edge to disengage it from the casing. ^ After returning the grease filter, press the grease filter button for 3 seconds to reset the timer. ^ If the grease filter is cleaned before the grease filter timer has reached its maximum, the grease filter button should be pressed for 6 seconds to reset the counter to zero. 19 Cleaning and Care Active charcoal filter In recirculation mode an active charcoal filter must be used in addition to the grease filter. The charcoal filter is designed to absorb cooking odors. The active charcoal filter will be placed in the canopy above the grease filter. Replacement active charcoal filters can be ordered from Miele. ^ Remove the grease filter to access the charcoal filter. See "Cleaning and Care/Grease filter". Replace the active charcoal filter when the grease/charcoal filter indicator lights blue, at least every 6 months or when they no longer absorb odors efficiently. ^ After replacing the charcoal filter, press the grease/charcoal filter button twice and hold for about 3 seconds to reset the charcoal filter timer. ^ If the charcoal filter is replaced before the timer has reached its maximum, press the grease/charcoal filter button twice and hold for 6 seconds to reset the counter to zero. ^ Insert the charcoal filter. Before using: ^ Program the charcoal filter timer, see "Operation/Reprogramming the charcoal filter timer". 20 Cleaning and Care Changing the light bulbs , WARNING TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING: Before changing the light bulbs, disconnect the hood from the power supply, see "Important Safety Instructions". When in use halogen bulbs become extremely hot, and can burn your hands. [. . . ] ­ If flat ducting is used, the cross section must not be smaller than the cross section of the ventilation exhaust. ­ The ducting should be as short and straight as possible. ­ The exhaust duct must not be bent or compressed. ­ Make sure all connections are secure.
