Original keypads have a 93C46 chip in location U1. The SK1L keypad needs to have its keypad address and its text messages programmed. These are set to default values at the factory. This programming shows the locations and range of data that each memory location will accept. The keypad map (Figure 1) shows which keys correspond to the Alpha-Numeric characters used in text programming. 5) While in "data" mode for locations 0 or 1, enter numbers using the number keys. For programming Alpha-Numeric locations, each number key will enter that number and 3 different characters. Pressing a key repeatedly will cause it to step through these characters in sequence then repeat the sequence. Press the key as many times as you need to get the character you want showing in the display on line 2. When you have the key to move the cursor to the next position.
