Faced with increased competitive pressure, service providers need this information to ensure a positive customer experience and compliance with strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs). [. . . ] For business services, SLAs are becoming increasingly strict. Violations bring both penalties and customer dissatisfaction. The 5670 RAM enables superior SLA assurance by allowing service providers to monitor, analyze and document application performance, usage trends and traffic flows. This allows them to detect potential issues before they become service affecting and to better document and report on SLA-affecting issues. 4 Alcatel-Lucent 5670 Reporting and Analysis Manager Enable sustained service revenue growth Whether they are offering differentiated services, up-selling existing customers or trying both approaches, service providers are always looking for new opportunities to grow revenue. Service providers offering residential managed online services can use the 5670 RAM to analyze P2P file transfers, online gaming, voice, over-the-top video and other applications. They gain valuable usage-based application intelligence so they can adjust existing service offerings or create new offerings with different QoS levels for different customer demands. Specifically, service providers gain visibility into how network resources are being used by applications or application groups. Service providers offering enterprise services can use the 5670 RAM to introduce tiered business VPN service plans with different QoS levels. This helps to justify further up-sell opportunities, such as service upgrades, professional services, hosted applications and similar services. Service providers can also add value for enterprise customers by providing detailed analysis of application performance and the volume of application traffic flows for business applications, such as SAP, e-mail, VoIP, video conferencing, e-learning, and other online collaboration tools. This helps enterprises justify their spending, simplify their planning, and support enterprise IT network diagnostic activities. For additional value, this information can be provided through customized web-based service portals. As part of the Alcatel-Lucent application assurance offering for VPNs, the 5670 RAM helps guarantee QoS for businesscritical applications and removes the need for customers to invest in costly WAN optimization products. Introducing new services rapidly and maintaining customer satisfaction are important for service providers. At the same time, they need to increase service profits and ensure optimal use of existing network resources.
