[. . . ] User guide DECT 4074 GB/GB Ex, GH/GI, GC Alcatel 4400 You now have a DECT 4074 GB/GB Ex, GH/GI, GC terminal that will give you simple and easy access to all the services and functions provided by your Alcatel 4400 system. This user guide gives you: - a full description of your terminal, - an alphabetic index of the services and functions available, - progressive practice in the use of these services and functions, divided into five sections: General Your calls For your convenience While you are away Using your terminal in GAP mode (description of utilisation and partial operation with a DECT system other than your Alcatel 4400). Whatever you need from a telephone system, your DECT terminal and your Alcatel 4400 system will provide it. Note: Availability of some of the functions described in this guide may depend on your system release or configuration. If in doubt, consult your system manager. [. . . ] Use the same procedure to cancel the conference; the first correspondent is then recovered and the second call is cut off. Note: During a conference call, if one of the correspondents hangs up, the other two remain in contact. 37 CALLS Note: If the call is not recovered within a certain time, you will automatically be called back. Parking a call While a call is in progress, an internal or outside correspondent can be placed on hold and then recovered on another terminal. Enter the code for the "Park call/retrieve" function or press the corresponding programmed key and dial the number of the terminal receiving the parking. Your correspondent then hears the waiting melody or a holding tone. To recover the call, on the terminal receiving the parked call, press the corresponding key or dial the code for the "Park call/retrieve" function. Note: If the parked outside call is not recovered within a preset time (1mn30 by default), it is transferred to the operator. Preventing a call being placed on hold While a call is in progress, to prevent another call from being placed on hold, enter the code for the "Camp on control" function. The same procedure is used to cancel this function. Being called back automatically by an internal correspondent who is busy When calling an internal correspondent, the screen and a tone (or voice message) indicate that the correspondent is busy. You then have the "automatic call back" option - being called back automatically when the line is free. 38 Camping on an internal correspondent who is busy When calling an internal correspondent, the screen and a tone indicate that the correspondent is busy. To "camp on", enter the code for the "Camp on" function or press the corresponding programmed key. When your correspondent has finished his conversation, your call is automatically repeated. Requesting callback If your internal correspondent does not answer, a callback request can be left by entering the code for the "Call back request" function or pressing the corresponding programmed key. Answering a night service bell During periods of operator absence, outside calls may ring a night service bell. To pick up the call, enter the code for the "Night service answering" function or press the corresponding programmed key. 39 CALLS Enter the code for the "Call back request" function or press the corresponding programmed key. To cancel the request, dial the number of the correspondent and then hang up. Picking up a call on another terminal Press the corresponding programmed key or enter the code for the "Direct call pickup" function. Dial the number of the terminal that is ringing. The system can be programmed to protect some terminals against call pickup. If you are part of a pickup group From your own terminal, you can pick up a call to any terminal in the group. Press the corresponding programmed key or enter the code for the "Group call pickup" function. Calling from your personal directory To access your personal directory, press name in the directory. To scroll through the names, press To read the corresponding number, press OK To call the number, press A B The screen displays the first C and To exit from the directory without calling, press * To programme the directory, see p. 57. ON 40 Calling using a programmed key CALLS The terminal programmable keys can be assigned to internal or external numbers, or to programmed functions *. Dialling is automatic. * To programme the keys, see p. 52. Calling a number from the system directory Each terminal can access a system directory containing short outside numbers. Dial the short number directly. Intrusion into an internal conversation You call a terminal which is busy. If the terminal is not "protected" against intrusion and if you have sufficient authorisation, you can intrude in the conversation in progress. Enter the code for the "Intrusion" function or press the corresponding programmed key. Protection against intrusion Enter the code for the "Protection against beeps" function or press the corresponding programmed key. Protection is deactivated when you hang up. 41 Sending DTMF signals When a conversation is in progress, DTMF codes are sometimes transmitted (for example, for a bank service, an automatic attendant or when remotely consulting an answering machine). All digits are transmitted in DTMF. MF This function is automatically deactivated when the call is finished.
