[. . . ] Insert the seat (14) of the odometer control (5) in correspondence with the antirotation pin (15). Insert the wheel pin (6) from the right side of the vehicle (travelling direction). Insert the spacer (9) between the hub and the fork left rod. Insert the washer (8), lock the rotation of the wheel pin (6) with a spanner, screw and tighten the nut (7). Wheel pin nut driving torque: 50 Nm (5 kgm). Position the odometer control (5) correctly in the appropriate seat in the wheel hub (13). use and maintenance Sonic 50 41 REAR WHEEL DISASSEMBLY Carefully read p. To unscrew the wheel nut (1), it is necessary to lock the rotation of the wheel. x Pull the rear brake lever (2) completely, then put a small piece of cardboard (3) on the grip and keep the rear brake lever pulled by holding it against the grip by means of a plastic band (4). x Unscrew and remove the wheel nut (1) and the washer. c c After reassembly, pull the rear brake lever repeatedly and check the correct functioning of the braking system. The wear of the brake pads depends on the use, on the kind of drive and on the road. The wear will be greater when the vehicle is driven on dirty or wet roads. To carry out a rapid checking of the wear of the front pads, proceed as follows: x Position the vehicle on the centre stand. x Carry out a visual checking of the friction material thickness by looking between the brake caliper and the pads. If the thickness of the friction material (even of one pad only) has reduced to about 1 mm, replace both pads. c Have the pads changed by your aprilia Official Dealer. use and maintenance Sonic 50 43 CHECKING THE SHOE WEAR Carefully read p. Check the wear of the rear brake shoes after the first 500 km and successively every 4000 km. To verify the wear of the rear brake shoes, proceed as follows: x Pull the rear brake lever (1) completely and keep it pulled. x Check the position of the rear brake shoe wear indicator (2). Position If the rear brake shoe wear indicator (2) is positioned on or beyond the lower reference tooth (4), contact an aprilia Official Dealer, who will provide for replacing the rear brake shoes.
