[. . . ] Type the filename of your new BIOS and the path, for example, A:\XXX-XX. XXX, and then press <Enter>. When prompted to confirm the BIOS update, press Y to start the update. The utility starts to program the new BIOS information into the flash ROM. When the programming is finished, Flashed Successfully will be displayed. Follow the onscreen instructions to continue. Create a bootable system floppy disk by typing [FORMAT A:/S] from the DOS prompt. Copy AFLASH. EXE to the just created boot disk. Run AFLASH. EXE from this new disk and select option 1. Save Current BIOS To File on the previous page for more details and the rest of the steps. Updating BIOS Procedures (only when necessary) 1. Download an updated ASUS BIOS file from the Internet (WWW or FTP) or a BBS (Bulletin Board Service) (see ASUS CONTACT INFORMATION on page 3 for details) and save to the disk you created earlier. At the "A:\" prompt, type AFLASH and then press <Enter>. At the Main Menu, type 2 and then press <Enter>. Update BIOS Including Boot Block and ESCD on the previous page for more details and the rest of the steps. If you encounter problems while updating the new BIOS, DO NOT turn off your system since this might prevent your system from booting up. Just repeat the process, and if the problem still persists, update the original BIOS file you saved to disk above. If the Flash Memory Writer utility was not able to successfully update a complete BIOS file, your system may not be able to boot up. If this happens, your system will need service. 4. BIOS SETUP 4. 2 BIOS Setup Program This motherboard supports a programmable EEPROM that can be updated using the provided utility as described in 4. 1 Flash Memory Writer Utility. The utility is used if you are installing a motherboard, reconfiguring your system, or prompted to "Run Setup". This section describes how to configure your system using this utility. Even if you are not prompted to use the Setup program, at some time in the future you may want to change the configuration of your computer.
