[. . . ] OWNER'S MANUAL AV-415 AM/FM/MPX RADIO WITH FOLD-DOWN DETACHABLE FRONT PANEL, AUDIO CASSETTE PLAYER, CD CHANGER CONTROLS AND QUARTZ CLOCK INSTALL ALLA INSTRUCT INSTALL AT ION INSTRUC T IONS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS This unit is designed for installation in cars, trucks, and vans with an existing radio opening. In many cases, a special installation kit will be required to mount the radio to the dashboard. These kits are available at electronics supply stores and car stereo specialist shops. Always check the kit application before purchasing to make sure the kit works with your vehicle. [. . . ] To stop fast tape movement, lightly push the opposite button. If the tape is allowed to fast-forward or rewind all the way to the end, play will automatically begin again from that point. TAPE PROGRAM SELECTOR To manually reverse tape direction and play the other side (program) of the cassette, lightly push both the Fast-Forward and Rewind buttons at the same time. The change of direction will be shown by the arrows on the display panel. EJECT BUTTON ( ) Tape playback is stopped and the cassette is ejected by pressing this button. Radio operation will automatically resume when the cassette is ejected. NOTE: Never leave a cassette engaged in the player when not in use. Doing so can cause damage to the cassette and/or mechanism of the unit. Always press the eject button and remove the cassette before removing the detachable front panel. cl cm cn cl 8 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS co FUNCTION (LEVEL) DISPLAY F The Function Display consits of five bar graphs which provide a visual representation of the volume level and the left and right channel balance levels. The volume level is represented by three thin bar graphs. As the volume is increased, the number of illuminated segments will increase. The left and right channels are represented by the wider bar graphs. As the signal strength applied to either the left or right channel increases, the number of illuminated segments will increase. cr (LOC/ RPT) CONTROL LOCAL/REPEAT During radio, tape or CD changer operation, pressing this button selects the local setting for the reception of strong signals. The LOC indication will appear on the display panel. Pressing the button again will deactivate the function. During CD Changer operation, pressing the button will continously repeat the current disc track. (Refer to function cp FUNCTION SELECTOR (MODE) csCONTROL (LOUD/RND)SELECTION LOUD/RANDOM TRACK During radio operation when listening to music at low volume levels this feature will boost bass and treble ranges to compensate for the characteristics of . During CD human hearing (refer to changer operation, pressing and holding this button for several seconds will cause the CD Changer to play disc tracks in random order. (Refer to function do. ) This button is used to select the playback mode (radio, cassette player or optional CD changer). With each press of the button, a different playback mode will be selected as indicated on the front panel display. During cassette play, the word TAPE is displayed, together with an audio ) and a directional cassette symbol ( arrow ( or ) indicating tape play direction (forward or reverse). When the CD changer is selected, CdC momentarily appears on the display, followed by the disc number, track number and rotating disc symbol . [. . . ] Always keep your cassettes away from direct sunlight or exposure to sub-freezing conditions. If a cassette is cold, allow it to warm up before use. Do not keep a cassette in the player when not in use. Before inserting a cassette in the player, check that the tape is tightly wound on the reels. Take up any excess slack using a pencil to turn the drive hub in the cassette (see diagram). HANDLING COMPACT DISCS Dirt, dust, scratches, and warpage can cause skips in the playback and deterioration of sound quality. [. . . ]
