Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer. Unplug this DVD during lighting storms or when unused for long periods of time. [. . . ] Press once for 1/2 speed and twice for 1/4 speed play. This function is valid only for video discs and will not work with audio discs. In slow mode, the audio will be disabled. To cancel slow play, press the PLAY key to resume normal speed play. DVD1500 DVD1500 PD-258 45 6 Remote Control Buttons 1 PREV / NEXT Key Pressing the PREV or NEXT keys will cause a CD to skip to the song immediately after (or previous) the current. On a DVD or VCD, the player will skip to the immediately following (or preceding) chapter. 2 MARK Key The above icon will appear on-screen when you press this key. This command sets the start position for the memory function. While a disc is in play, press the MARK key to bring up the symbol above, then use the or keys to move the cursor over one of any of the five positions to the right of the symbol. Press ENTER to confirm. 1 2 The current play time will be recorded, up to a maximum of five positions. If you wish to skip forward to any one of the selected positions, again use the or to make your choice, then press PLAY to begin playing the selection. Position memory will be erased automatically when a disc is removed from the player. 46 DVD1500 6 Remote Control Buttons 1 Q SURROUND Key You can obtain a 3-dimensioal, spacial sound effect by using the virtual surround simulator (Q Surround) employed in the DVD player. When external speakers are connected to the player, you can enjoy full surround sound at home. The Q SURROUND function will take effect on DVDs, SVCDs and music CDs. When the Q SURROUND key is pressed, a single-line message will shown on the external monitor indicates whether the Q SURROUND function is enabled. Continually pressing this key will toggle Q SURROUND effect on and off. You can also activate / deactivate the Q SURROUND function within the overhead icon when you press AUDIO SELECT or ON SCREEN DISPLAY keys. Please see corresponding sections for more control details. * Please note the Q SURROUND function will not take effect on DTS encoded discs. 1 DVD1500 DVD1500 PD-258 47 6 Remote Control Buttons 1 ON SCREEN DISPLAY Key Clicking the ON SCREEN DISPLAY key will bring up the overhead control bar on the TV screen. This control bar allows you to perform many different setting functions. Pressing this key will not stop the play of the DVD currently in progress so that you can immediately view the results of changed settings. Please refer to page 62 for more information regarding overhead control bar operations. 2 ANGLE Key Some DVDs offer the option of viewing a scene / shot from several different angles. When this option is available on your DVD, pressing the or key will switch to the next available camera angle until the angle returns to default. 1 3 2 3 SUB TITLE ON / OFF Key EN OFF The above icon will appear on the TV screen when you press this key. Most DVDs have the option to view subtitled script. When installing new batteries, please make sure to select high-quality, nonleaking batteries. Recharging Battery Do not dissemble the battery pack.
