CTCSS Mode (Sub-Channel) Selection This unit provides a Coded Tone Controlled Squelch System (CTCSS) with 38 Sub-Frequencies for each main channel. This feature allows you to utilize the coded squelch tones (0138) within a main channel. This enables you to communicate with another party on the same main channel using the same subcode. (This filters out unwanted transmissions without the same coded squelch tone). A different subcode may be selected for each of the 15 channels. To change the CTCSS Sub-channel: - From GMRS standby mode, press the Mode Button twice; a flashing 00 or sub-channel number is displayed. If 00 is displayed, press the Up or Down button to enable the CTCSS mode; the CTC icon will appear steady on the display with the flashing sub-channel number. If the dual watch mode is off, the oF icon will also appear flashing. To enable the dual watch mode, press the Up or Down button; the dual watch channel number will flash and start to increment up or down as the Up or Down button is pressed. Press the MODE button again to select the CTCSS function and select the CTCSS code if desired for the dual watch channel just selected. Press the PTT button to confirm selection of the dual watch channel. The display will now alternate between the primary channel and the dual watch channel just selected. To exit the dual watch mode, repeat the above procedure, decrementing the channel number until oF appears; then press the PTT button to confirm. NOTE: When in Dual Watch mode, the vibration alert function is disabled. Transmit Power Selection Mode This feature permits selection of the transmitting power level to high or low. Using low power, the unit will have a lower transmit range but battery life will be increased. Press the Up or Down button to toggle between the HI and Lo selections. Press the PTT button momentarily to confirm selection. The display will indicate the current setting in GRMS standby mode. 13 Vibrator Call The transceiver is equipped with a vibrator call feature which causes the unit to vibrate when a call signal is received from another party. This feature can be activated whenever the user wishes, and provides call notification without disturbing other people nearby. To set the vibrator call feature: From the GMRS standby mode, press the MODE button 6 times until the Ub ON or oF icon appears with a blinking VIB icon on the display. Press the Up or Down button to activate the vibrator function ON.
