An alternate method would be to use a USB adapter and an inline RS232 to RS485 interface. The installation of the PCMCIA card is straight forward. When installed the PC software will activate the plug and play, NEW HARDWARE FOUND. Insert the CD prior to installing the PCMCIA card. Install the CD that come with the PCMCIA card into the CD Player. Install the PCMCIA into one of the PCMCIA slots in the PC. Sometime the cover for the shot has to be removed first. With the NEW Found Hardware box displayed on the screen select "Install Hardware Driver". Select "Search for suitable driver for my device", press NEXT button. Select "CD ROM Drive", press NEXT button. If the CD is the "D" drive, the following file should be selected "d:\serial port adapter\drivers\ Window 2000, XP for PCI, PCMCIA\qserbrd. inf", press NEXT button.
