Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] 8 2 VOcia EnD Of LinE DEVicE (ELD-1) The Vocia® End of Line Device (ELD-1) is a networked safety device for use with a Vocia amplifier (e. g. , VA-8600) and an integral part of standard-compliant voice evacuation and mass notification systems. The ELD-1 tests speaker line integrity between the Vocia amplifier and the ELD-1. [. . . ] The RJ45 connector provides two LEDs that indicate Ethernet link and network activity. 4 ELD-1 sEtup anD usE Speaker Line Connector A plug-in barrier-strip connector on the ELD-1 connects the device to the end of the speaker line. The device needs to be connected to an appropriate monitoring point on the speaker cable--typically after the last speaker on the run. The connector provides for both constantvoltage (70V, 100V) and low-impedance circuits. Connect the speaker line to the appropriate input for the circuit configuration. Please note: For higher-resolution detection, a constant-voltage line may be connected to the Lo-Z input, although the ELD-1 will represent a 1-watt load to a 100V circuit and a 0. 5-watt load to a 70V circuit. The user should not connect Lo-Z circuits to the 70/100V input. 70V/100V Lo-Z Com End of Speaker Line 5 ELD-1 instaLLatiOn Installation The ELD-1 may be mounted in a rack or on a wall using four screws at the end of the flanges or two screws in the keyholes on the rear. Please install the unit away from heat sources, such as vents and radiators, and in rooms with adequate ventilation. Do not exceed the maximum operating temperature of 113 degrees F (45°C). An ELD-1 should be connected at the end of every speaker line that is to be monitored. The diagram below shows the appropriate connection to the speaker wire and the network. In EN54-16 compliant systems, the ELD-1 must be connected to a compliant Ethernet switch that is backed by an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
