1. For Presta valves,  loosen the locking nut at the tip of the valve. Depress the tip of either type valve to ensure the valve does not stick,  and to blow out any dirt or contaminants that may have settled there. Press the appropriate side of the pump head (marked with `P' for Presta and `S' for Schrader) onto the tire valve. Rotate pump head base 90° to the locked position. Do not inflate tire beyond recommended maximum inflation pressure (indicated on tire sidewall). Rotate pump head base 90° to the neutral position,  and remove pump head from tire valve.
