The 25 micron cartridge filters larger sediments from water, and al lows higher flows at less pressure drop. Taste and Odor Cartridges: Many bad tastes and/or odors are removed from water by an activated carbon cartridge. It is most often used to remove chlorine taste and smell, usually to a single faucet such as the kitchen cold. Protect the filter housing from soldering heat, as you did above, and complete the connections (D) to the faucet cold water pipe. Before turning on the water supply, remove the sump from the filter head and install the filter cartridge (see page 7). 6 INSTALLATION STEPS (cont. ) C. 3 MATERIALS AND TOOLS NEEDED: For threaded pipe installation, you will need pipe wrenches, Teflon tape or pipe joint compound, a union fitting and pipe nip ples. Observe the following: H Use Teflon tape or pipe joint compound on all exter nal threads. H Do not turn pipe or fittings to tightly into the filter head or you may break it. This will allow you to tighten the union fitting, without damaging the filter head, if pipe lengths are not exact. H Before turning on the water supply, remove the sump from the filter head and install the filter cartridge (see below). D. If not, close the main water shutoff valve near the water meter or pressure tank. ) 2. If plumbing with flexible tubing, hang or support the filter housing in some manner. Using the mounting bracket (included with Deluxe model) as shown in FIG. If using rigid pipe, be sure to allow a minimum of 1-1/2" clearance under the fil ter for sump removal when changing the filter car tridge. Use the plumbing procedures on pages 5 and 6 if using compression fittings.
