Setting the water hardness For trouble-free operation of the coffee machine, and to ensure that the descaling reminder appears in the display at the appropriate time, it is important to set the water hardness level. The water hardness level indicates how much calcium is dissolved in the water. The higher the calcium content, the harder the water, and the harder the water, the more often the machine will need to be descaled.
