Lime and Phosphate are common forms of scale that can damage your kettle. Lime scale, a harmless mineral, comes in the appearance of white, coloured or rusty-looking build up on the inner walls of the kettle. Phosphate scale can't be seen, however, it can cause the water to appear cloudy when heated. To prevent scale from damaging your kettle, ensure that the kettle is de-scaled regularly. This is done by emptying the kettle after use and not allowing water to stand in the kettle overnight. operation of your kettle 1.
