See your electrician for professional advice. 5 Know your Breville ikon Electric Knife Sharpener 20 ceramic sharpening pins positioned crosswise on the rotating wheel for superbly sharpened knives. Non-slip base Grips to your bench top and makes knife sharpening easy and comfortable. 6 Operating your Breville ikon Electric Knife Sharpener Before first use Before using your knife sharpener for the first time, remove any packaging material and promotional stickers and labels. Ensure the appliance is switched off at the power outlet and the power cord is unplugged. Step 4 Hold the knife firmly by the handle and ensure that the blade edge it is held straight, horizontally, and aligned with the rotating wheel (refer to image fig. 1 and 2). Place the thickest part of the blade (located just above the handle) into the ceramic sharpening pins of the rotating wheel. With slight pressure, pull the knife slowly towards you so that the blade of the knife, from the thick end of the blade to the tip, passes through the ceramic sharpening pins (this will take approximately 3 to 4 seconds). Switch the knife sharpener off by releasing the On/Off button. Step 1 Collect the knives you wish to sharpen and ensure they are clean and dry. Step 2 Place the knife sharpener on a flat, dry surface such as a bench top. Insert the power plug of the knife sharpener into a 230/240V power outlet and switch the power on. The knife sharpener will only sharpen straight edged, stainless steel or carbon steel knives. Do not use serrated knives with the knife sharpener. Note Step 3 Hold the knife you wish to sharpen in your right hand. Switch the knife sharpener on by pressing and holding down the On/Off button with index finger of your left hand. Fig 3 Any excess metal filings that may collect under the ceramic sharpening pins of the rotating wheel of the knife sharpener, can be removed by unscrewing the compartment cover positioned underneath the appliance. Gently shake and/or use a vacuum cleaner to suck out the residual filings from the opening. Then place the cover back on the compartment and screw firmly back into position.
