know your Breville ikonTM kitchen scale
Weighing Platform hygienic stainless steel platform
LCD Screen easy reading of weight, temperature and timer with blue backlight Temperature Probe used to measure the temperature of food and beverages
Temperature Probe Socket temperature probe must be inserted into the socket for use
Timer button used to operate the temperature alarm/kitchen timer on the kitchen scale
Unit press button to set imperial (oz, lbs) or metric (g, kg) standard on the kitchen scale. [. . . ] should this happen the lCd screen will display the word "lo".
the kitchen scale will automatically turn itself off after 2 minutes of not being used. the lCd screen will not be illuminated when the kitchen scale is off.
to use the Zero button

Placeitemtoweighinthecentreofthe weighingplatformandrecordweight. Press theZERObuttontoresetweightto"0" beforeaddingthenextitem.

. Ifthecombinedweightofalltheitems weighedislessthan00g, ZEROwillappear ontheleftsideoftheLCDscreen. Forexample, whenbakingacakethatcallsfor 50gbutterand00gsugar. Placeanempty mixingbowlinthecentreoftheweighing platform, thenpresstheZERObutton. The weightwilldisplay0gandtheword"TARE" willbedisplayedontheLCDscreen. Begin toaddthebutteruntilthedesired50gis displayedontheLCDscreen. Then, pressthe ZERObuttonagain. Addsugartomixingbowl untilthedesired00gisdisplayedontheLCD screen. Toremovetheword"TARE"andsettheKitchen scalebackto0g/0. 0ozatanytime, ensurethe itemisremovedfromtheKitchenscaleand presstheZERObuttonagain. Theword"TARE" willdisappearandtheword"ZERO"willdisplay ontheLCDscreen.
If the combined weight of all the objects measured is greater than 200g, the word "tare" will appear in the upper left side of the lCd screen.
Converting metric to Imperial measures
1. PresstheUNITbuttonbeforeweighingthe itemtochangethescalefromthemetric system(g/kg)totheimperialsystem(oz/ lbs), ifrequired. Placeitemtoweighinthecentreofthe weighingplatform. Recordtheweight, then removeitemandpressthePowerbuttonto OFFifyouhavefinishedwiththeKitchen scales. Alternativelyfollowthebelow directionsforotherfunctions.
the kitchen scale's maximum capacity is 5kg/11lbs. each time an item is added using the Zero button, the weight of the previous item is counted towards the maximum capacity. for example, if you weigh a 4. 0kg bowl of soup and then press the Zero button to weigh in some onions, the maximum amount the onions can weigh is 1. 0kg 4. 0kg + 1. 0kg = 5kg (5kg is the maximum weight of the kitchen scale).

setting the timer
1. PresstheTimerbuttononce(abelliconwill appearintheupperlefthandcorner). UsingtheUNITandZERObuttons, scroll eitherdownoruptoselectthedesired amountoftime. Beginsettingthetimer bypressingtheTimerbuttonaftereach correctdigitisdisplayedontheLCDscreen. Maximumtimecountdownis"99:59". Afterthelastcorrectdigitisselected, press theTimerbuttontostartthetimer. ToturnthealarmoffpresstheTimerbutton Acontinuous"beep"alarmwillsoundwhenthe countdowntimerisfinished.
to use the temperature probe
1. Insertthetemperatureprobeintothe temperatureprobesocketlocatedatthe sideoftheKitchenscale. Insertthepointedendofthe temperatureprobeintothefood/ beveragetorecordtemperature
to turn the timer off before it sounds, press the timer button.
