[. . . ] · Never cover the appliance whilst it is plugged into the power outlet or while hot. · Do not place cold toast on top of toasting slots to warm toast as this may prevent correct air circulation and damage the appliance. · Do not use on metal surfaces, for example, a sink drain board. · Do not use on an inclined surface. · To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plug or toaster in water or any other liquid. · Do not move the toaster whilst in operation or when hot. Use side areas for lifting and carrying the toaster. · Do not leave the toaster unattended when toasting. · Always turn the power off at the power outlet and then remove the plug from the power outlet before attempting to move the appliance, when the appliance is not in use and before cleaning or storing. · Do not attempt to extract toast, crumpets or any other item from the toasting slots with a knife or any other object as contact with live elements may damage the elements and cause electrocution and/or fire. · Do not allow breadcrumbs to accumulate in the bottom of the toaster. Follow the cleaning instructions provided in this book. Note NEVER OPERATE TOASTER ON ITS SIDE. NEVER ADD ANY FOOD SUBSTANCE OR SPREADS TO THE BREAD, ENGLISH MUFFINS OR CRUMPETS PRIOR TO TOASTING AS THIS CAN LEAD TO ELECTROCUTION OR FIRE. THIS TOASTER IS FOR TOASTING BREAD, CRUMPETS AND ENGLISH MUFFINS ONLY. PLACING OTHER ITEMS IN THE TOASTER CAN LEAD TO ELECTROCUTION OR FIRE. 4 5 Know your Breville Stratus Toaster Operating your Breville Stratus Toaster Before first use, remove any promotional stickers or packaging material attached to your toaster. Press the high lift lever down until it locks into position. The toasting cycle will automatically commence. If the toaster is not plugged in and switched on at the power outlet, the high lift lever will not lock into position. 4 slice electronic toaster Extra wide and deep slots Self centring toasting slots 1. Insert the power plug into a 230/240 volt power outlet and then turn the power on. Place 2 slices of bread or 2 crumpets or halves of an English muffin or bagel only into each of the toasting slots. Ensure the bread slices, crumpets or muffin/bagel halves are not too large or too thick to fit in the toasting slots. Select the desired browning setting using the browning control dial. [. . . ] This setting when activated adjusts the heating elements to produce additional heat to the centre elements to cook the top of the crumpets faster than the bottom. Crumpets must always face inward towards the middle of the toaster. The toaster will revert back to the selected toast setting after the crumpet selection has finished. Storage Always switch off at the power outlet, then remove the plug from the outlet and allow to cool completely before storing. Follow the directions for cleaning and store in an upright position on a flat surface on your e bench top or in an accessible cupboard. [. . . ]
