Use side areas for lifting and carrying the appliance. · Never immerse the power supply cord or appliance in water or any form of liquid. [. . . ] Do not place cold toast on top of toasting slots to warm toast as this may prevent correct air circulation and damage the appliance. · The installation of a residual current device (safety switch) is recommended to provide additional safety protection when using electrical appliances. It is advisable that a safety switch with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA be installed in the electrical circuit supplying the appliance. See your electrician for professional advice. · Regularly inspect the power supply cord, plug and actual appliance for any damage. If found damaged in any way, immediately cease use of the appliance and return the entire unit to the nearest authorised Breville service centre for examination, replacement or repair. NEVER ADD ANY FOOD SUBSTANCE TO THE BREAD, MUFFINS OR CRUMPETS AS THIS CAN LEAD TO ELECTROCUTION OR FIRE. PLACING OTHER ITEMS IN THE TOASTER CAN LEAD TO OR ANY OTHER ITEM WITH A KNIFE OR ANY OTHER OBJECT, AS CONTACT WITH LIVE ELEMENTS MAY NOT ONLY DAMAGE THE ELEMENT, BUT NEVER ATTEMPT TO EXTRACT JAMMED TOAST, CRUMPETS OR MUFFINS THIS TOASTER IS FOR TOASTING BREAD, CRUMPETS AND MUFFINS NEVER OPERATE TOASTER ON ITS SIDE. This Breville toaster is electronically controlled and will not lock down into the toast position until the toaster is plugged into a 230/240 volt power point and switched on. 5 KNOW YOUR BREVILLE EMPORIA TOASTER Extra wide self centring toasting slots adjust automatically to toast thick or thin bread Tidy cord storage Right carriage control lever Left carriage control lever High lift levers raise crumpets and muffins higher for safer removal Independent electronic variable browning controls Cancel function Defrost setting FRONT SLOTS Crumpet control (available for front 2 toasting slots only) adjusts heating elements to perfectly toast golden crumpets without burning the bottom 6 Removable crumb tray REAR SLOTS 1. Insert the power plug into a 230/240 volt power outlet and then turn the power on. Place up to 4 slices of bread or muffins into the bread slots. For one or two slices always place in the front two bread slots. fig 1 If the toaster is not plugged in and switched on at the power outlet the high lift levers will not click into place. 3. Select the desired browning setting, from No. 1 to No. 6 on the browning control knob. When using the toaster for the first time, we suggest you toast on setting No. 3. Varying types of bread and personal preference may require a different browning setting, eg. Raisin toast and white light-textured breads may require a lower setting, whilst heavier textured rye breads may require a darker setting. The toasting cycle will automatically commence. USING YOUR BREVILLE EMPORIA TOASTER 4. The toaster turns off when the desired toast colour is achieved and automatically raises the toast. The toasting process can be stopped at any time by pressing the CANCEL button. Toasting time commences when the control lever is depressed. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED WHEN IN USE AS TOAST MAY BECOME JAMMED. 7 HIGH LIFT To remove smaller items such as crumpets and muffins, lift the high lift lever approximately 20mm above the starting position. 8 TOASTING CRUMPETS This function adjusts heating elements to perfectly toast golden crumpets without burning the bottom. [. . . ] To remove any crumbs from the toaster, slide out the crumb tray from under the toaster, empty and replace it in the toaster before using again. Wipe the outside of the toaster with a slightly dampened cloth and polish with a soft dry cloth. To clean the interior, turn the toaster upside down over the sink and shake crumbs free. CARE AND CLEANING STORAGE Always switch off, at the power outlet and then unplug the appliance from the power outlet before cleaning. DO NOT ALLOW CRUMBS TO BUILD UP IN THE CRUMB TRAY. CRUMB TRAY SHOULD BE CLEANED REGULARLY.
