"Memo" needs to be reset every time a new cartridge is inserted. 3 To start "Memo" please press and hold down the start button until all four bars appear in the display and flash twice. A small flashing dot in the bottom right hand corner of the display will show that the "Memo" is working. 5 Change the cartridge when all the bars have disappeared and the arrow starts to flash after approximately four weeks. If the day when you next have to change the filter cartridge cannot be selected on the left hand dial simply turn to the next number. But because the number 23 cannot be selected on the left hand dial set the exchange date as follows: Left (day): 24. This means that your filter cartridge will next have to be changed on October, 24th. A new cartridge should be prepared, inserted and the exchange indicator reset as above. The BRITA Maxtra cartridge The BRITA Maxtra cartridge reduces substances like chlorine, limescale (carbonate hardness), aluminium, heavy metals (like lead and copper) and certain pesticides as well as organic impurities. To achieve optimum filter performance BRITA recommend that if you have re-filled the funnel 2­3 times in quick succession you should allow the cartridge to rest by not refilling the funnel again for 15­30 minutes.
