Creating Picture Indexes Picture indexes let you create catalogs of images and print or save each page of images. These catalogs are useful if you want to be able to refer to a picture catalog of a group of images. For example, you may want to create a catalog that contains all of the . TIF images of fish available on one of the ClickArt Image Pak CD-ROMs. You select the images you want to group together in the CompuPic main window and then choose formatting options in the Create Picture Index dialog box. You can control spacing and the number of images across and down on each page, specify the text and fonts to use for page headers and footers as well as for cell (image) headers and footers, and set other options such as whether images are shown with borders and drop shadows. 16 ClickArt Image Pak User's Manual 1. Find the set of files for which you wish to create a catalog by using the Finding Files procedure on page 13. Select all the images you want to put in the catalog. Press the Ctrl key and click the image file to add an image to the selection set. Click the Select All command on the Edit menu to add all image files in the current folder (directory). Note that viewing icon or tile thumbnail images as discussed earlier may help you decide which images to add to the catalog. On the Utilities menu, point to Picture Index and click Create Picture Index, or click the Pict-Dex button on the toolbar. In the Create Picture Index dialog box, check each page of the picture index to see that it contains all the images you want to place in the catalog. If thumbnails appeared in the CompuPic main view, they will also appear in the preview of the catalog in this dialog, which makes it easier to discern whether the catalog contains the correct images. If you need to modify the selection set of images, click Cancel and return to the CompuPic main window to select additional images or remove selected images. You can remove a selection in the same way you add an additional one by pressing the Ctrl key as you click. When you are ready, perform Step 3 again, if necessary. In the Create Picture Index dialog box, select from several options to change how the catalog is displayed, if desired. If you want to print your catalog, click Printer under the Output indexes to area and then click GO!. (If you need to make any changes to your Windows printer setup, before you click GO!, click the Print Setup button, make any changes, and click OK. ) 7. If you would prefer to have the catalog created in image files instead of printed, follow these steps: a) In the Create Picture Index dialog box, click the File Setup button and in the Output Path Name field, type in the exact path of where the output files are to be placed; for example, C:\MSOFFICE\WINWORD\DOCS.
