[. . . ] You can expand the memory up to 544 MB by installing dual in-line memory modules (DIMMs). When you add the optional memory, it increases the performance for both copier and printer operations. In general, the DIMM must have the following specifications: Type: 144 pin and 64 bit output CAS latency: 2 Clock frequency: 100 MHz or more Capacity: 64, 128, 256 or 512 MB Height: 1. 25 in. (31. 75 mm) Dram Type: SDRAM 2 Bank SDRAM can be used. Note There might be some DIMMs that will not work with the machine. For more information, call Brother Customer Service. 49 Installing extra memory B e a b Turn off the machine's power switch. Disconnect the interface cable from the machine, and then unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet. Hold the DIMM by the edges and align the notches in the DIMM with the protrusions in the slot. Insert the DIMM diagonally (1), then tilt it toward the interface board until it clicks into place (2). Note Be sure to turn off the machine's power switch before you install or remove the DIMM. c Remove the DIMM cover and interface access cover. f g h Put the interface access cover and the DIMM cover back on. Plug the machine's power cord back into the AC power outlet first, and then connect the interface cable. Turn on the machine's power switch. d Unpack the DIMM and hold it by its edges. CAUTION To prevent damage to the machine from static electricity, DO NOT touch the memory chips or the board surface. 50 C Troubleshooting and routine maintenance C Troubleshooting IMPORTANT For technical help, you must call the country where you bought the machine.
