[. . . ] To use this feature, all of your multiline fields must be the same length (in your dBASE or FMT file). The swapping feature does not require that you standardize your data. Combine Address Line Info (Y/N)= Y Combine Last Line Info (Y/N)= Y Yes No Look for related components that were input on separate lines, and try to put them together on the same line. Do not try to combine components. If you are processing a two-line format, then your Combine Last Line Info setting does not matter. You may enter either Yes or No. Include Postal Code (Y/N)= Y No Do not touch the postal code inside the multiline address block. This option is chosen by some ACE users who are forbidden to change anything inside the address block. Your selection has no effect on any fields that you post manually. ACE will update the postcode field, but will retain the original postcode in the address lines. Yes If ACE can assign a postal code, then place the assigned postal code inside the multiline address block. If ACE cannot assign a postal code, keep the postal code that was in the input record (if there was one). This parameter applies to you only if you are processing a multiline format. They have no effect on a two-line format. 30 ACE Canada Job-File Reference Output Control Output Each Record (ONCE/ALL FILTERS) = All Filters This parameter controls how ACE evaluates output filters. If you select: Once All filters Output each record only once, at the first Posting block where that record passes the output filter. Output each record as many times as it passes an output filter. You might end up with more output records that you input! Undetermined Records (DEFAULT/IGNORE) = Ignore Default Output File (path & filename) = Undetermined records are those that don't pass any of your output filters. Through these two parameters, you can control how ACE will handle such records. If you select: Ignore Default Drop undetermined records. Place undetermined records in the default output file. Job editing tip: Pick one of your output files to be the default. Go back to that Post to Output File block, and copy your entry at the Output File Name parameter. Then come back and paste the file name here, at the Default Output File parameter. Chapter 2: Job-file blocks and parameters 31 Create Output File Tip: The Create Output File block is one half of a pair of blocks that you will use together. On page Output Control you will find an example showing how most people use these blocks together. Output File Name (path & file name)= Type a name for the output file. By default, ACE will place the file in the current directory; if you want it placed somewhere else, include a path in your entry. Advice about file naming: You can use the shortcut $job. For example, your entry here might be $job. dbf. Then if your job file is named example. cac, your output file would be named example. dbf.
