Typical configuration is a largely-automated configuration process that makes use of the Typical wizard within the Configuration Tool. It can be used to configure a server as a primary node. It configures the ORB and deploys the web applications on the web server and application server. Typical Configuration Installation and Configuration Guide for UNIX 129 To use Typical configuration, you must have: · Business Objects server products, the web server, and the application server on a single machine · Apache/Tomcat as web server and application server · no external authentication; authentication and authorization performed only on the repository For single-machine deployments that do not meet all of these conditions, see Configuring the ORB on page 115. Steps The Typical wizard contains the following steps: · Naming the cluster · Defining the ORB · Selecting the application server to configure · Selecting the web server to configure After you finish providing the information requested during these steps, the Configuration Tool performs the configuration. 130 Installation and Configuration Guide for UNIX Configuring the ORB To configure the ORB using the Typical wizard: 1. Change to $INSTALLDIR/setup and then enter: . /xwconfigtool The Welcome page of the Configuration Tool appears. - If you run the Configuration Tool from the installer, you do not see the Welcome page. - The user account used to run the Configuration Tool must have administrative rights to the server machine. In the drop-down list, select the language for the session, and then click Next. The language you select only applies to the current session. It has no impact on the language you choose for your Business Objects products. Important information about configuration appears. Read the information, and then click Next. The Configuration Options page appears. 4. Select Typical, make sure Using Java Server Pages appears, and then click Next. Enter a name for the cluster, and then click Next. If necessary, modify the IP address or hostname, and first TCP port. To check whether a certain number of ports are available, set the Last port for test, and then click Test port range.
