To use another report as a template On the toolbar, click Report Template. Browse your BusinessObjects Enterprise folders. Note: The folder defined by the Administrator as the Default Template folder is selected as the default. Select the report you want to use as a template, and click OK. Click the Report tab to see how the template formats your report. Note: Formatting is not applied if the report you chose does not meet the requirements for a template. Template considerations If an existing report is used as a template, these report objects will be applied to the new report: Crystal Reports Explorer User's Guide 59 5 Formatting Reports Formatting objects and sections · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · Fields Groups Group charts Summary fields Hyperlinks Bitmaps Lines, boxes, borders Static OLE objects If an existing report is used as a template, these report objects will not be applied to the new report: Detail charts Subreports OLAP grids Cross-tabs Maps Embedded OLE objects BLOB fields Specified order grouping Advanced summaries (such as Top Ns, Percentages, and Running Totals) The formatting and objects from a report used as a template can override choices you made when creating your report. For example, if you did not select a chart, but then applied a template report that includes a chart, the template report will override your selection, and the new report will contain a chart. Further, a chart in a template report overrides the summary value selected for an existing chart. Once the template has been applied, the first summary field in the report becomes the summary value for the chart. Formatting objects and sections Click the Design tab to view and modify the layout and formatting of your report. Here you can move and format field objects, add text objects, rearrange and format report sections, and so on. Use the available formatting options to fine tune the presentation of your report. You can also apply formatting on the Report tab. To move an object Drag any object to reposition it within its section of the report. To resize an object On the Design tab, select the field or text object that you want to resize. The object's resizing handles appear. 2. 2. Resize the object by dragging any of the resizing handles. To resize a section On the Design tab, move the pointer over the boundary of the section you want to resize. When the pointer becomes a resizing cursor, drag the boundary to make the section bigger or smaller. Adding and editing text objects 1. To add a text object On the Design tab, right-click any white space in the section where you want to add a text object. On the shortcut menu, click Add Text Object.
