This behavior conflicted with the ANSI SQL-92 varchar standard which Data Integrator has complied with since 11. 5. 0 release. This behavior has been corrected in this release to not preserve any spaces. With this release, when ANSI varchar behavior is set and Data Integrator encounters character data of all spaces, the spaces will be trimmed resulting in an empty string. If you want to reserve the space, you can turn off ANSI varchar behavior by setting the ANSI_VARCHAR_BEHAVIOR to FALSE (for more information, refer to varchar behavior section in the MigrationBehaviorChanges document).
