Label Studio now includes design files and layout templates to get you started producing Enhanced Distribution Labels. PCL fonts, for use with the PCL design files, are included also. If it does not, either change the database or design/layout template to match your data. You may receive errors and warnings in the Object Status window. You can still preview and print the labels without problems. Setting up the EDL tray or sack label To create the EDL barcode, you must edit a value expression as described below. With your job open in Label Studio, choose Tools > Design Labels. Now, in Label Toolbox, choose a USPS EDL design file and click Edit. Choose File > Save As, enter a name for the new design file, and click Save. Double-click the Code 128 barcode (in the lower left). In the Code 128 Barcode Properties window, set up the value expression as described below. left(AP. CTN_BC_DGT, 8) + "X" + "666666" + "000" + right("00000" + alltrim(AP. LBL_NO), 5) + "1" 6. Use 8 for automation-compatible, barcoded, and machinable mail. Replace 666666 with your Business Entity ID. The three digits must be filled with something -- either 000 or a value that's useful to you. Replace AP. LBL_NO only if you want to use your own method for generating a unique serial number for identifying each sack or tray. If you want to use AP. LBL_NO as the serial number, leave the (AP. LBL_NO) portion of the value expression as is. Click OK to close the Code 128 Barcode Properties window. Click the Filter icon in the Value Expression box. If needed, click Yes to add the filter syntax to the database. In the Filter Builder window, in the Filter Syntax area, replace values as you did in steps 6 ­ 9 above.
