Version 7. 70c April 2006 This release of Business Edition supports many USPS regulatory changes and includes additional enhancements to help you. [. . . ] See the new option to create these sacks in the graphic above. These sacks consolidate carrier route, automation, and presorted packages formerly prepared in merged 5-digit sacks containing fewer than 24 pieces. When both carrier route and non-carrier route mailings are present in a job, the software prepares sacks with merging (see DMM 705. 10. 0). In this case, the merged 3-digit sack is a required level that may contain carrier route, 5-digit, 5-digit scheme (L007), 3-digit, and 3-digit scheme (L008) packages. The software prepares the merged 3-digit sack after the 5-digit level and before SCF level. Merged 3digit sack These new sacks are required starting 11 May 2006 and are optional before that. For details, see Postal Bulletin 22172: http://www. usps. com/cpim/ftp/bulletin/pb2006. htm New weight requirement for pallets Palletization is available in Business Edition as an add-on option. The USPS wants to move more mail from sacks to pallets. Therefore, the following types of packages on pallets have a new weight requirement: Periodicals Standard Mail Package Services flat-size mail Package Services irregular parcels The last pallet level must be made when 250 pounds of mail is reached. Before it could be a range of 250 to 500 pounds. When you install Business Edition 7. 70c, Business Edition handles these changes automatically. The change is required starting on 11 May 2006. However, you can use this preparation immediately. For more information, see Postal Bulletin 22171: http://www. usps. com/cpim/ftp/bulletin/pb2006. htm The new Mail. dat 05-2 standard With Business Edition 7. 70c, if you own the Mail. dat add-on option, you can produce Mail. dat files in the new IDEAlliance Mail. dat 05-2 format or the older 05-1 format. If you have jobs currently set up with the 02-2 format, they'll be converted to use the 05-2 format when you presort using Business Edition 7. 70c. Use the following table to determine which format to use. Dates Use this format Before 10 April 2006 05-1 10 April 2006 ­ 8 May 2006 05-1 or 05-2 Base your choice on the recipient's ability to accept the 05-2 format. Contact the recipient to make sure that they are ready to accept the 05-2 format. Recipients must be ready to receive the 05-2 format on 8 May 2006. 8 May 2006 or after 05-2 Choose the appropriate Mail. dat format here. The IDEAlliance Mail. dat window appears at the end of presort processing. Container Summary (. csm) record If you are using the 05-2 standard, the DMM reference field no longer has "XX" in front of the string. The container level field includes the following new codes: Codes Eligible types "C" "U" "AH" "AI" "S" Mixed CR in 3-Digit "S" 3-Digit Merge (CR, Auto, Presort) "S" and "T" Origin MxADC "P" Protected ADC Package Quantity (. pqt) record Changes to the PQT record include: The PQT records for Origin Mixed ADC sacks have been broken up by 3DG or 3DG scheme group records. Added value K = Origin MxADC to the Package Level field. Segment (. seg) record The Periodicals: if >1, 000 Pieces To A Single Foreign Country field is now a reserved field. USPS-required presorting changes 11 Other presorting changes Print top label only for firm packages When you print presorted address labels through Label Toolbox, now you can choose to print a label only for the top piece in firm packages. The top piece is the only piece of the package that is visible and necessary, as far as the USPS is concerned (they do not open firm packages). [. . . ] Choose File > Properties > Database.
