Notes: • The name of your selected recording program appears constantly on the left of the display, with the exception of Auto, which is displayed and then disappears after 4 seconds. • Avoid changing programs during recording as the brightness of the image may change suddenly. • If you switch the camcorder from the [ program to the Q program, the camcorder returns to the Auto program. • When recording in dark places a bright light in the scene may cause a vertical light bar (“smear”) to appear. This is a normal feature of camcorders. The camcorder will take care of focus, exposure and other adjustments, leaving you free to point and shoot. [ Auto This is the same as the Easy Recording program, except that you now have the option of using any of the camcorder’s manual functions. AUTO Sports Using the Full Range of Features This program is useful for recording high-speed sports scenes in brightly lit conditions. Normal playback will be slightly jerky, but you will get clear images which can be analyzed frame by frame during slow or paused playback. SPORTS Portrait Use this program outdoors to make subjects stand out from a softened foreground and background. The image appears as increasingly large squares of color as it fades out, and smaller squares when it fades in. *Available during PLAY (VCR) mode only. 55 3_CN-E30-300MM T2. 95-3. 7 L SP_E(35-73) 3/12/01 13:51 Page 56 E Effects Sepia (SEPIA) Makes a monochrome image with a brownish tint. Using the Full Range of Features Mosaic (MOSAIC) Blurs the image by enlarging the size of some pixels. Art (ART) Adds a paintlike effect, called solarization, to the image. Pressing the L/M buttons on the wireless controller correspond to turning the selector dial up and down, and pressing the SET button corresponds to pressing the selector dial in. E MENU P DIGITAL EFFECTS ON/OFF D. EFFECTS SET ON/OFF Operating faders Sound and image fade together. When operating faders in CAMERA mode, make sure the program selector is set to Q. Select FADER. • FADE-T, WIPE , WIPE PLAY (VCR) mode. Select the desired setting. • You return to the digital effects menu. 4. Press the DIGITAL EFFECTS button to close the menu. • The name of your selected fader flashes in the display.
