This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: – Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. [. . . ] • Dust that is not removed by the cleaning sheet should be wiped off with a moistened and thoroughly wrung-out cloth. 1. Carefully raise the upper unit until it stops. Press and hold the Start key on the control panel for approximately two seconds. Start Key The lamp beneath the scanning glass lights. 5-5 Chapter 5 Maintenance 3. Wipe any dust off the scanning glass with a clean, dry cloth. Hint The platen rollers are cleaned by wiping while rotating the rollers in three stages. 4. Press the Stop key to turn off the lamp. 1. Use a moistened, well wrung-out cloth to wipe off any dirt from the roller. 3. Pull the roller lock lever down to lock the retard roller in place. 5-10 Chapter 5 Maintenance 4. Replacing the Transport Rollers As the rollers start to wear out, feeding quality declines, and document feed errors, such as paper jams, become more likely. If document feed errors continue to occur after cleaning the rollers, purchase the Roller Replacement Kit and replace the transport rollers (pickup, feed, and retard rollers). Roller Replacement Cycle The feeding rollers are consumables that must be replaced after feeding about every 500, 000 pages. When the rollers have fed more than 500, 000 pages, a roller replacement message appears on the display panel whenever the scanner is turned ON.
