[. . . ] To specify the document size, color mode, and other settings, set the desired scan condition by editing the scan mode panel. If you specify [Match original size], the page size of the scanned document is detected and the images are saved at the detected size. [Dots per inch] Select the resolution. Select [Detect automatically] and the software will automatically scan the document at the optimum resolution. The driver settings dialog box includes setting items that are the same as the basic items in [Scanner setting], but the setting for each of the them is stored separately. Which settings are used during scanning differs as follows depending on the setting of the [Use advanced settings dialog box] check box. Setting of [Use advanced settings dialog box] OFF Basic items Settings of [Scanner setting] Other than basic items Settings of the advanced settings dialog box of the scanner driver [Scanning Side] Select the scanning side of the document. If you select [Skip blank page], scanned images of blank pages are not saved. [Automatically straightens skewed images] If a document is not straight when fed, the scanner detects that the document is not straight from the scanned image and straightens the skewed image. How can I scan correctly without any loss of edges? Set the check box of [Trimming] in the [Image processing] tab to OFF (Windows)/Set the check box of the [Trimming] dialog box displayed when you click [More] to OFF (OS X) in the settings screen of the scanner driver. Alternatively, set [page size] to any settings other than [Match original size] (Windows) or [Detect automatically] (OS X) in the settings screen of the scanner driver. Add counter to file names A sample file name is displayed as the [File name] in the [File name settings] dialog box. How can I skip blank pages, and scan only non-blank pages? Specify [Skip Blank Page] in the [Select document] panel or on the scanner driver setting screen, then scan. Scanned image edges are lost when scanning document that is closer to black with dark borders. How can I scan correctly without any loss of edges? Set the check box of [Remove Shadow] in the [Image processing] tab to OFF (Windows)/Set the check box of the [Remove Shadow] dialog box displayed when you click [Image processing] to OFF (OS X) in the settings screen of the scanner driver.
