[. . . ] To activate the optional device: 1 Click [Start] % [Settings] % [Printer]. 2 Right click the "CANON 130f (or PCL5e)" icon, then click [Printing Preference]. 3 Click [Device Option] tab. 5 Click [OK], then close the printer. 130f PCL driver 2-11 2 2. 1. 4 Installing both PCL5e and PCL6 driver Installation If you want to install both drivers connecting with USB interface, first finish installation of one driver and go to the other through "Add New Printer Wizard". For Windows XP user 1 Click [Start] % [Printers and Faxes]. In Windows XP Home Edition, click [Start] % [Control Panel] % [Printers and other Hardware] % [Printers and Faxes]. 2 Select [Add Printer] from [File] menu to start the "Add New Printer Wizard". 3 Select "Local printer attached to this computer" and clear the check box for "Automatically detect and install my plug and play printer", then click [Next]. 4 Select [USB port] for printer and click [Next]. 6 Insert the supplied PCL printer driver CD into your CD-ROM drive, then click [Browse]. 7 Browse to the following location on the CD depending on your choice, and then click [OK]. H H H Select the language you prefer. If you are using Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP, please use an USB port or an optional network interface port. For Windows NT® 4. 0, you must be logged in as the Administrator. 2. 2. 1 Parallel port connection Note Be sure to use a shielded parallel cable. Use of an unshielded cable may result in radio interference. 1 Turn off both the machine and your computer. 2 Connect a standard IEEE-1284 parallel cable to the parallel port on your machine, securing it with the clips. 3 Connect the other end to the parallel port on your computer. and secure it in place with the screws. 130f PCL driver 2-15 2 2. 2. 2 Installing the driver Installation Note If you have previously installed the CANON 130f driver, you can update by simply clicking a [Update] button on the maintenance screen. 1 Turn on your computer. 2 Insert the supplied CD into your CD-ROM drive. The driver installation window will appear automatically. 5 When "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard" is shown, click [Next]. 6 Enter IP address assigned to your machine in "Printer name or IP address" and click [Next]. 7 If "Additional Port Information Required" dialog box appears, click [Standard] in "Device Type" and select "Generic Network Card" before clicking [Next]. 8 Click [Finish]. 9 Click [Close] to finish adding the port. 10 Confirm that the added port is selected for your machine, then click [OK] or [Close]. 130f PCL driver 2-21 2 For Windows NT 4. 0 user Installation "Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service" should be installed in your PC to print to TCP/IP-connected printer. If it has not been installed in your PC, refer "Installing Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service in Windows NT 4. 0" on page 2-23 to install. Then configure printer port according to the following procedures. 1 Click [Start] % [Settings] % [Printer]. 2 Right click on the "CANON 130f printer" icon and select [Properties] from pop-up menu. 3 Click [Ports] tab and then click [Add Port]. 5 Select [LPR Port] and click [New Port]. Note If "LPR Port" is not shown in the "Available Printer Port", "Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service" has not been installed in your PC. Install it referring to "Installing Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service in Windows NT 4. 0" on page 2-23. 6 Enter IP address assigned to your machine in "Name or address of server providing lpd", and enter printer name in "Name of printer or printer queue on that server". Then click [OK]. 7 Confirm that the added port is selected for your machine, then click [OK] or [Close]. 2-22 130f PCL driver Installation Installing Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service in Windows NT 4. 0 If Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service is not installed in your PC, you can install it by following procedures. 2 1 Click [Start] % [Settings] % [Printer]. 4 Select [Microsoft TCP/IP Printing] and click [OK]. 5 Follow the instructions appears on the screen to complete the installation. 130f PCL driver 2-23 2 2. 4 Uninstalling the driver Installation Uninstall is required if you are upgrading the software or if your installation fails. Note For Windows® 2000, Windows® XP and Windows NT® 4. 0, you must be logged in as the Administrator. Download as Bitmap All the font data in the document will be transferred to the printer as bitmap data. Select this mode if letters are not printed properly as the computer screen.
