Connected device: Stop playback. 89 Recording from Digital Video Devices (DV Dubbing) E You can record from other digital video devices equipped with a DV terminal with virtually no loss in picture and sound quality. ❍ When recording from digital video devices, make sure that “AV \ DV” is not displayed on the screen. If “AV \ DV” is displayed, change the setting ( 93). ❍ Anomalous signals sent from the connected device may be recorded as anomalous picture (although it may not appear so on the screen), or it may not be recorded at all. ❍ Copyright protected signals cannot be recorded. ❍ Blank sections may be recorded as anomalous picture. ❍ If the picture does not appear, reconnect the DV cable or turn the camcorder off and back on again. ❍ You can only record signals from devices with the logo recording in SD system in SP or LP format. ❍ You can connect only one device with the DV cable. ❍ You can use the camcorder for playback and recording without reconnecting the DV cable. CAMERA PLAY (VCR) CARD CAMERA CARD CAMERA Editing 1. ❍ AV insert will stop if the camcorder detects a blank section or a section not recorded in SP mode on the tape. Connected device: ❍ Use only tapes without blank sections. ❍ AV insert may not work correctly if the tape has a blank section or changes in the recording mode. ❍ AV insert cannot be performed when the quality of the recording is poor, or during special playback such as fast forward, rewind, playback pause, slow playback etc. 94 Editing Example: AV Insert from a VCR CAMERA PLAY (VCR) CARD CAMERA CARD CAMERA E 1. Connect the camcorder to the VCR. See Playing Back on a TV Screen ( 39). 2. Locate the scene you wish to insert and pause playback shortly before the scene. Set the camcorder to PLAY (VCR) mode and load a recorded cassette. Make sure that the tape-protect switch is set to allow recording. 4. Locate the scene you wish to replace and pause playback shortly before the scene. You can use the playback buttons on the camcorder or the special playback buttons on the wireless controller. 5. Press the AV INSERT button on the wireless controller. “AV INSERT” and “2a” appear. AUDIO DUB. PAUSE SLOW MENU ×2 SET AV INSERT AV REMOTE SET DV 6. This limited warranty covers all defects except where: (a) The loss or damage to the product results from: i) accident, natural disaster, mishandling, abuse, neglect, unauthorized product modification or failure to follow instructions contained in the instruction manual; ii) the use of accessories, attachments, products, supplies, parts or devices with this Canon product that do not conform to Canon specifications or that cause abnormally frequent service problems; iii) repairs or services performed by any party other than a Canon Service Facility; iv) defective batteries or any exposure to water, sand or dirt; v) shipping (claim must be presented to the shipper); (b) Any serial number on the video equipment is altered or removed.
