TO WALL JACK TONE PULSE USE ONLY WITH ADAPTOR M/N-14 2 CONNECT the AC Adapter Plug into the AC Adapter Outlet on the back of the CP-725 charging cradle. LOOP the cord through the AC Adapter Cord Holder to prevent accidental disconnection. 3 PLUG the AC Adapter into an electrical wall outlet. The LEDs on the charging cradle will stop flashing when the handset (with battery pack installed) is placed in the cradle. NOTE: If the telephone cord is not properly plugged into the telephone wall jack, the CHARGING INDICATOR will flash when the handset is out of the charging cradle. SWITCH SETTINGS RINGER ON/OFF PAGE 3 4 5 It may be necessary to set the TONE/ PULSE SWITCH. [. . . ] The "Ringer" display will appear, for example: BATTERY PROGRAM NAME/DATE 1 4 GHI 7 PRS D TONE 2 ABC 5 JKL 8 TUV 0 OPER 3 DEF 6MNO 9WXY # NAME/DATE SEND RINGER: ON 3 4 Press the DOWN or UP ARROW KEY to change the ringer setting (turn it ON or OFF). CALLER ID BATTERY PROGRAM AUTO DELETE Press PROGRAM again to lock in your selection. CALLER ID 25 CHANNEL CP-725 PROGRAM OPTION 2: PROGRAM OPTION 3: PAGE 25 AUTODIAL See page 18. DEFAULT VOLUME SETTING Every time the TALK key is pressed, the handset will start out with the factory set default volume setting or the volume level you program here. PROGRAM OPTION 4: 1 2 LOCAL AREA CODE SETTING The CP-725 can make returning phone calls easier by automatically dialing stored Caller ID numbers. In order for this feature to work correctly, it is necessary to program your local area code into the unit. Press PROGRAM. BATTERY PROGRAM NAME/DATE Press the RIGHT ARROW KEY twice. The "Default Volume" display will appear: BATTERY PROGRAM NAME/DATE 1 2 BATTERY Press PROGRAM. BATTERY PROGRAM NAME/DATE Press the RIGHT ARROW KEY four times. The "Area Code" program display will appear: PROGRAM NAME/DATE VOLUME (DEFAULT) 3 4 Use the DOWN or UP ARROW KEY to adjust the default handset volume level. CALLER ID AREA CODE: 000 Press PROGRAM again to finish. 3 4 Use the keypad to enter the three digits of your local area code. Press PROGRAM again to finish. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you change the Outside Line option, you must re-program the Local Area Code setting before you return the handset to the charging cradle in order for the CP-725 to function properly. 26 PROGRAMMING PROGRAM OPTION 5: PAGE (continued) PROGRAM OPTION 6: OUTSIDE LINE If your telephone system requires that you enter an extra digit in order to obtain an outside line, the CP-725 can dial this digit for you automatically whenever you dial a stored Caller ID number. This may be useful if you use your CP-725 at a business that uses a PBX telephone system. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you change the Outside Line option, you must re-program the Local Area Code setting before you return the handset to the charging cradle in order for the CP-725 to function properly. CALL WAITING CALLER ID The Call Waiting Caller ID option is factory preset to "ON. " If you do not subscribe to Call Waiting Caller ID, you should set this option to "OFF. " 1 2 Press PROGRAM. BATTERY PROGRAM NAME/DATE 1 2 3 4 Press PROGRAM. PROGRAM NAME/DATE BATTERY Press the RIGHT ARROW KEY six times. The "Call Waiting Caller ID" Option display will appear, for example: PROGRAM NAME/DATE Press the RIGHT ARROW KEY five times. The "Outside Line" display will appear: PROGRAM NAME/DATE BATTERY BATTERY CALL WAITING CALLER ID: OFF OUTSIDE LINE: 3 4 Use the DOWN or UP ARROW KEY to turn this option ON or OFF. CALLER ID Use the DOWN or UP ARROW KEY to select a digit. CALLER ID Press PROGRAM again to finish. Press PROGRAM again to finish. PAGE 27 PROGRAM OPTION 7: ON-SCREEN HELP Two modes of on-screen help are available while you program the CP-725. Automatic Help A help message will automatically scroll across the screen whenever you wait 15 seconds without pressing a key. If you do not wish to wait 15 seconds, you can always see the help message immediately by pressing the SEND key. "SEND key" Help The help messages (with the exception of the initial message) will not appear unless you press the SEND key. NOTE: In either mode, you can stop the help message at any time by pressing the CHANNEL key. TO CHANGE THE HELP OPTION 1 2 Press PROGRAM. BATTERY PROGRAM NAME/DATE Press the RIGHT ARROW KEY seven times. The "Help" display will appear. You will either see: BATTERY PROGRAM NAME/DATE HELP: AUTOMATIC Help! OR HELP: <SEND>KEY 3 BATTERY PROGRAM NAME/DATE AUTO DELETE SEND Use the DOWN or UP ARROW KEY to switch between the two help modes. CALLER ID 4 CALLER ID Press PROGRAM again to finish. INDICATORS ON THE 28 CHARGING CRADLE PAGE HANDSET CHARGING INDICATOR The HANDSET CHARGING INDICATOR lights when the handset is placed in the charger. Place the handset in the charger for 12-15 hours before the first use or when the battery begins to run low. CHARGING NO TELEPHONE LINE INDICATOR If the telephone cord is not properly plugged into the telephone wall jack, the CHARGING INDICATOR will flash. CHARGING LINE IN-USE INDICATOR The LINE-IN-USE INDICATOR (located on the charging cradle) will light whenever the CP-725 is in "TALK" mode. It will also light whenever any other extension telephone on the same line is being used. LINE IN USE PAGE/FIND CHARGING LINE IN USE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION MOVING THE CP-725 Unplug the CP-725 from the wall outlet if you wish to move the unit. Place the handset in the charging cradle after relocating the CP-725. This will reset the CP-725's security code. All autodial, Caller ID and redial numbers will be saved. PAGE 29 CLEANING THE CP-725 CAUTION: Disconnect the CP-725 from the power outlet before cleaning. Use a damp cloth or moist sponge only to clean: 1. The plastic cabinet of the handset and charging cradle. The battery charging contacts on the handset. A mild soap, like dishwashing detergent, will help remove grease or oil.
