Do not let the garage door opener compensate for a binding or sticking garage door. Sticking or binding doors must be repaired. Garage doors, door springs, brackets and their hardware are under extreme tension and can cause serious personal injury. Do not wear rings, watches or loose clothing while installing or servicing a garage door opener. To avoid serious personal injury from entanglement, remove all ropes, chains and locks connected to the garage door before installing the door opener. The optional Protector SystemTM uses an invisible beam which, when broken by an obstruction, causes a closing door to open and prevents an open door from closing.
