Surfing is the term used to describe the activity of moving from place to place on the World Wide Web. The challenge with surfing the Web is sorting through the millions of Web sites to find the information you really want. Fortunately, there are Web sites called search engines that search the World Wide Web for you. Search Engines What is a Search Engine? A search engine allows you to search the Web by keywords. For example, if you type "golf" in the search box, the search engine returns a list of Web pages related to golf. Your Appliance has its own search engine provided by Microsoft. E-mail saves time and helps you communicate more frequently. E-mail Basics What Is E-mail? When someone calls you on the telephone, you pick it up and you have a conversation with the caller. It's an immediate exchange with the caller. With a letter sent by the post office, someone writes the letter, puts it in an envelope, puts a stamp on it, and puts it in a mailbox.
