Operations & Installation Guide ­ DOC. 6555 External Battery Pack: TPMC-8X-BTPE · 3 External Battery Pack for TPMC-8X Crestron TPMC-8X-BTPE Storage The TPMC-8X-BTPE can be stored in a temperate, dry place (removed from the touchpanel and docking station) indefinitely without significant irreversible degradation of its performance. The self-discharge rate is a function of temperature and internal resistance. High temperature storage reduces charge retention. Best results occur if the TPMC-8X-BTPE is stored at an optimal temperature of 32° to 104°F (0° to 40°C). After an extended period of storage, initiate a few charge/discharge cycles to restore full capacity. 4 · External Battery Pack: TPMC-8X-BTPE Operations & Installation Guide ­ DOC. 6555 Crestron TPMC-8X-BTPE External Battery Pack for TPMC-8X Setup Charging NOTE: A Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery typically provides 300-500 charge/discharge cycles. There are two ways to charge the TPMC-8X-BTPE: · Install the TPMC-8X-BTPE on a TPMC-8X touchpanel and connect the touchpanel to an AC source using its AC adapter or · Install the TPMC-8X-BTPE on a TPMC-8X touchpanel and mount the touchpanel on an AC powered TPMC-8X-DS Docking Station/Charger (sold separately). NOTE: The battery pack may take up to six hours to charge in a powered touchpanel if the panel is in use during charging. NOTE: When the battery pack is attached, both the internal and external battery packs charge simultaneously. Installation Use the following procedure to install the TPMC-8X-BTPE on a TPMC-8X touchpanel: 1. Place the touchpanel screen-side down on a clean, soft surface. Place the two alignment tabs on the bottom TPMC-8X-BTPE in the corresponding holes on the rear of the TPMC-8X. With the tabs in the corresponding holes on the rear of the TPMC-8X, swing the top part of the TPMC-8X-BTPE toward the rear of the TPMC-8X and gently press until it "clicks" into place (refer to illustration on the following page). To use the internal (or external) battery, move the switch to the up (on) position. To conserve battery power when the unit will not be used for extended periods, move the switch to the down (off) position. (Refer to illustration on the following page. ) To access the battery switch, place the touchpanel screen-side down on a clean, soft surface and remove the two Phillips head screws that hold the internal battery compartment cover on the rear of the touchpanel. 6 · External Battery Pack: TPMC-8X-BTPE Operations & Installation Guide ­ DOC. 6555 Crestron TPMC-8X-BTPE External Battery Pack for TPMC-8X TPMC-8X Internal Battery Switch Removal Use the following procedure to remove the TPMC-8X-BTPE from a TPMC-8X touchpanel: 1. Place the touchpanel screen-side down on a clean, soft surface. Squeeze both spring-loaded removal tabs and swing the top of the TPMC-8X-BTPE away from the touchpanel (refer to illustration on page 3). Lift the TPMC-8X-BTPE to disengage the two alignment tabs (refer to illustrations on page 2 and page 6) and remove it from the touchpanel.
