Methods for changing values with Multi-State Sliders Click and drag method Click on one of the "thumbs" of the slider. While holding the mouse button down, move the mouse until the slider "thumb" is in the desired position. Key method Page 72 While the slider that you wish to move has the focus: Press the down-arrow or left-arrow key to move the thumb(s) down or to the left one unit. Press the up-arrow or right-arrow key to move the thumb(s) up or to the right one unit. Press the Home key to move the thumb(s) to maximum. Press the End key to move the active thumb(s) to minimum. Shift-Click method Note: Use this method when you wish to force the value of all of the individual controls to a single value. Click on one of the "thumbs" of the slider. The settings of all of the individual component controls will now conform to that of the single thumb clicked-on. Drop-Down Lists A drop-down list is a Control Page Object Type that is used for level controls. Drop-down lists are multi-state sensitive. This means that if a drop-down list is set to control two different level controls that are not set to the same value, no setting will be displayed. This makes it apparent that the list is linked to multiple component controls. Properties of a drop-down list may be edited through the Object Appearance Editor. These include: General Properties Multi-State Drop-Down List A Multi-State Drop-Down List is used to control one or more individual component controls where the data type is enumerated. A Multi-State Drop-Down List may be in one of two states: Mixed - In this case, the individual settings of the controls linked to this list are different. No value is displayed in the drop-down list box. Single Value - In this case, the individual settings of the controls linked to this list are all set to a single common value, the one visible in the drop-down list box. Regardless of the original state of the list, changing the value in a Multi-State Drop-Down List will always leave the list in the "Single Value" state.
