For Attaching to Metal Stud: 2. Wall Box should be positioned so it attaches to the back of metal studs. If attaching to the open side of a metal stud,  first insert a wooden 2x4 and secure it to the metal stud. The Wall Box may be positioned horizontally between two studs or vertically on one stud. Remove junction box cutout(s) as required. It may be easiest to install the junction box(es) at this time. Position the Wall Box on the stud(s) and use the self-drilling screws to secure the Wall Box to the metal stud(s). Figure 1
