This is due to normal expansion of the metal it is made from. [. . . ] Iron whites and light colours on the right side and dark colours on the reverse. Embroidery should also be ironed on the reverse to make it stand out. · Each time the iron is used (including for the first time) or if you have not used steam for several minutes, press the steam delivery button a number of times away from the ironing board. This will eliminate cold water from the steam circuit. · During use, the iron can be rested in a "vertical" position (see figure below). However, make sure the surface is even to avoid the iron falling over. PLEASE ENSURE THAT AT ALL TIMES REMOVABLE WATER TANK (N) IS FIRMLY SEATED IN POSITION. The bottom of tank (N) comprises a water-feed valve into the internal water heater tank, this may leak outside the appliance if tank (N) is not firmly seated and waterfeed valve engaged into appliance. In particular, only park iron in the transit notch (shown on page 2) on the tank (N) for transport purposes. In use, always stand the iron on the provided iron rest. If you do ever use the transit notch to park your iron, make sure you have reseated the tank N down tightly in position before filling the water tank. TURNING THE APPLIANCE ON FROM NEW When first used when new, internal appliance water heating tank is empty. On first filling, please be aware that extra heating time is necessary as air is removed from this internal tank and replaced with first fill of water. There may be an unusual sound whilst filling/heating, which is quite normal, and appliance will use up first fill of water much more quickly than subsequent top-ups. OPERATION · In models with domestic iron, the iron can be secured in position to put it away safely (see fig. 8) Important: never move the appliance using the iron as a carrying handle. · To steam iron, press the (iron on) and (steam generator on) switches (fig. N. B: When used for the first time, the appliance may give off smoke and an odour for several minutes. This is caused by heating and subsequent drying of the sealers used in assembling the steam generator and iron. It is also normal to hear the noise of the pump conveying water to the steam generator. · Position the thermostat regulation knob (E) in the area indicated in the figure according to the type of fabric to be ironed (THERMOSTAT REGULATION TABLE). PREPARATIONS FOR USE The appliance works with normal tap water. Never use other types of water, chemical substances or detergents (e. g. perfumed water, essences, water softener, etc). Filling the tank and connecting to the mains Make sure the cable is unplugged from the mains socket. · The first time you use the iron, insert the limescale filter provided (fig. [. . . ] The colour of the correct replacement fuse cover is that as marked on the base of the plug. The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured black.
