The main idea in learning how to use the equalizer is to move one slider at a time and listen carefully to the change it makes in the sound. Agreat deal of trial-and-error is involved in learning what this signal processor can do for you. Experiment with your equalizer to create new sounds that you want. The graphic equalizer may be used at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the effect chains. When the equalizer is used at the beginning of an effect chain, it usually is used to change the basic sound of your instrument. Used with an acoustical guitar the equalizer can be used to brighten its sound by boosting its upper frequencies and boosting the level from an acoustical pickup. A single coil pickup on an electric guitar may sound too thin, so a boosting of the lower frequencies may yield a firmer sound to the instrument. A hum-bucking pickup may be too brassy, so a slight cutting of the lower frequencies may help. When the graphic equalizer is used in the middle of an effects chain, it is used to change or enhance the output of the sound from a particular effect unit. (Be sure to reduce the level to avoid clipping going into the next effect. ) When the graphic equalizer is used at the end of an effects chain, it can be used to change the overall sound of the chain, or make up for something lacking in the sound system, or cut down feedback from one input channel in your P.
