[. . . ] CONNECTING THE FX84 Connect your guitar to the input of the FX84. Connect the OUTPUT of the FX84 to your amp or to the input of another effects device. JACKS: Input, Output, AC Adapter (use the DOD PS200R power supply only to eliminate the need for a 9 volt battery). OPERATION OF THE FX84 The FX84 should be operated in front of an amplifier and not in an effects loop. Since the order of the effects are very important, they should be ordered as follows: 1 compression effects (DOD FX84), 2 Wah/volume and envelope filters (DOD FX17, FX25), 3 Distortion effects (DOD FX102, FX69B), 4 EQs (DOD FX 40), 5 chorus, flanging, phasing, vibrato (DOD FX 64, FX75C, FX22, ), 6 Delay and reverb effects (DOD DFX98, FX96). To set up your own sound with the FX84 start by turning the HI EXP and ATTACK controls down, and turn the LEVEL and COMPRESS controls to 12 O' clock. Adjust the COMPRESS, HI EXP, and ATTACK controls to the desired levels, and adjust the LEVEL so the effected signal volume matches the bypass volume. On the following pages, are examples of different types of sounds, along with graphic representations of how to set the knobs. Since good (or bad) guitar sounds are a subjective matter, use these examples as starting points to create your own sounds that meet your specific tastes, or lack thereof. LIGHT COMPRESSION Use this setting for a light compression sound. To do so turn the LEVEL and COMPRESS controls to 12 O' clock. Turn the HI EXP and ATTACK controls down. This will take those annoying edges off, but not effect anything else. FEATURES LED indicator shows status of effect and battery condition. Active switching for noiseless operation. Rubber non-skid bottom. HEAVY COMPRESSION To squeeze every last bit, and just plain milk your guitar for everything it's worth, use this setting.
