OS9. x. x or 10. 1. x users must obtain a driver file in order to use the reader. Users of Mac OS10. 2 or greater do not need additional drivers. [. . . ] Your reader should now appear in "My Computer" as an additional removable drive. The Digital Media reader may now be used as a portable storage device, accessible through standard file access methods. Important: Prior to removing the Digital Media card from the reader, the card must be disconnected. Failure to do so may result in data corruption and render your card unusable. To disconnect the card, do one of the following: A. Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop, right-click on the icon and select "Eject". Wait for disconnect confirmation before removing the device. Left-click on the PC card with a green arrow in the system tray. On the pop-up menu, select "Stop USB Mass Storage Device. " Wait for disconnect confirmation before removing the device. Installation on PC Compatible running Windows 98 or 98SE 1. Download the appropriate self-extracting driver file from our website (www. edgetechcorp. com/support/ downloads). There are drivers specific to the type of reader you have purchased (CompactFlash, SM, MemoryStick, etc. ) Save the driver to your desktop or a temporary folder. Double-click the driver file to launch a self-extracting utility which will unzip the individual files. You will be prompted to provide a place to extract the driver files - default response is Desktop folder. Choose another place if you wish, but remember where you selected. Once extracted, the driver files will reside in a folder (the name of which begins with "Win98" in the location you specified. (You may delete the folder once installation is complete. ) 3. Before connecting your reader, turn on your computer and boot up Windows 98 as usual. [. . . ] Failure to do so may result in data corruption and render your card unusable. To disconnect the card, Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop, right-click on the removable drive icon and select "Eject" from the pop-up menu.
