It is aimed primarily at people who have been using a basic mobile phone until now and now want to use more functions such as email. The emporiaSMART is also suitable for anyone for whom using email and the Internet on a tablet or a PC is part of everyday life and who now wants to be able to do this on a smartphone as well. [. . . ] If it isn't, the download cannot start. 4. To begin downloading new software, select Check for updates. A message will appear telling you whether or not there is any new software available. If there is, select Download to start the update process. The green bar indicates how the download is progressing. 5. Once the download has been completed, select Update now. You can also install other apps from the Internet any time, however. To do this, turn on Wi-Fi or enable mobile data usage. Start the app installer in All apps to install useful functions on your phone. You will find lots of helpful applications available for download in the "Google Play Store", for example. Many apps are free, but there are also lots of others you have to pay for. 46 Basic functions 5. BASIC FUNCTIONS 5. 1 Calls and contacts This application enables you to place calls and manage your contacts. ›› Placing calls There are three ways of entering a phone number to make a call: • Phone book: Select a contact from the list and tap on the name. • Keypad: Enter the number using the keypad and then press Call. • Recent calls: Select a contact from your list of recent incoming and outgoing calls. Deleting Select Delete to remove multiple calls from your call history. Settings Here you can input voice call settings such as call forwarding and call barring. In More settings, you can turn on functions such as Manage fixed dialling numbers or the Minute reminder. ›› ›› 47 Basic functions ›› Phone book Type the first few letters of the contact you're looking for in the search box, and the contacts that match your search will be listed.
