These instructions come with no warranty or guarantee.  [. . . ] Step 2 Carefully loosen one side first,  then work your way around the iPod®,  undoing the clips from the silver case by prying towards the center of the iPodTM. The case will still be attached by a ribbon cable--do not detach the ribbon cable. Step 3 Once the case is open,  remove the hard drive by carefully lifting the blue rubber padding with the hard drive away from the iPodTM. The hard drive will be connected at the base by a small ribbon cable tab. Gently lift this tab,  disconnect the hard drive and set it aside for re-assembly. Step 4 Use the included tool to remove the battery from its compartment. You will notice the power cable is wrapped under the green motherboard. Carefully pull the power cord out from under the motherboard and unplug the power connector to remove the battery.
