[. . . ] The EPSON driver offers automatic settings that optimize print quality and speed when you're using EPSON media. You can also choose advanced settings for more control over your printer and color management options, as described on page 4-7. Follow these steps to make basic settings: 1. Start an application, open a file, and choose Print from the File menu. Make sure your printer is selected, and then click the Properties button. (If you see a Setup, Printer, or Options button, click it instead. This box shows you the current settings, but you can't change them from here. 3. Select a Media Type setting appropriate for the media you're printing on, as listed in the table on page 4-4 (Photographic Dye Ink model) or 4-5 (Archival Ink model). Set the Mode option as follows: · Click Automatic to have the printer driver analyze the contents of your image or file and make the appropriate printing adjustments. If a Quality/Speed slider appears in the Mode box, set it according to the priorities of your print job. (Depending on the Media Type setting, this slider may not appear. ) Click Custom, and then choose one of the print job types from the custom settings list, as described in the table below. · 4-2 Printing with EPSON Drivers for Windows | 4-3 Note Custom print job settings Setting Text/Graph Usage Intensifies colors and lightens the midtones and highlights. Best for print jobs with non-photographic images. Adjusts colors based on your printer's ICC profile, using the Image Color Matching system (effective in Windows 98/Me/2000 only). If you're using an ICM-compatible monitor, adjusts printed colors to closely match screen colors. Adjusts colors using the small-gamut sRGB (standard red green blue) color space. Best for color matching with other sRGB devices, or for images designed for the Web. You can also create your own settings and add them to this list. See page 4-9 for more information. ICM sRGB 6. Select one of the following from the pull-down menu: · Note Photo-realistic if you are printing photographic images. This setting produces sharper images and automatically corrects underor over-exposure of the original image. · Vivid if you are printing non-photographic images. This setting intensifies colors and lightens the midtones and highlights. Do not turn off Photo Printing Accelerator unless you see poor image quality and want to test whether this setting has an effect. 7. For faster printing, make sure the Photo Printing Accelerator checkbox is selected. This setting speeds up data transfer between your computer and the printer.
