[. . . ] Use these holes to mount the backboard (#1) to the upper board mounting brackets (FIG. 2), depending on your basketball system. Attach using two hex bolts (#11), lock washers (#9), and flat washers (#7). Tighten these fasteners securely. 1. Figure 2 Figure 1 2. 3. Locate the yellow bolt (#14) and yellow jam nut (#15) in hardware bags. Assemble nut and bolt to backplate (#4) as shown in Detail A. Tighten securely by threading nut and bolt against one another. Next, Attach top half of backplate (#4) and plastic boot (#3) through your backboard and mounting brackets with two bolts (#6), four washers (#7), two lockwashers (#9), and two hex nuts (#10). (FIG. 3). Detail A Figure 3 4. Slide goal assembly (#2) over hex bolt (#14) (FIG. Slide leaf spring (#5) over hex bolt (#14) and brace on goal assembly. Secure with two bolts (#6), four washers (#7), two lockwashers (#9), and two hex nuts (#10) through backboard and mounting brackets. Square up goal and tighten all four nuts tight. Figure 4 2 5. Thread flange nut (#12) onto hex bolt (#14). NOTE: there are two different ways this goal can be used: 1) as a spring goal, 2) as a conventional goal. (1) For spring loaded goal: Screw flange nut (#12) onto hex bolt (#14) only until the end of the stud extends out of the flange nut. (2) For conventional goal: Screw flange nut (#12) completely onto hex bolt (#14). Fold in the two sides of the plastic boot, making sure that they clear the goal brace.
