If you had to dig the bottom of the End Ladder into the ground to make the Top Ladder horizontal in Step 29, select the higher hole for attachment of the Base Piece. After installation, your Top Ladder should be as horizontal as possible. Find the Base Piece and Diagonal Braces for the End Ladder in Box #8. Bolt the Base Piece to the outside bottom of the End Ladder using two 4-1/2 x 1/4 Carriage Bolts and 1/4 Safety Nuts. Loosely bolt the bottom of the Diagonal Braces to the ends of the Base Piece. Use two 2-1/2 x 1/4 Carriage Bolts and 1/4 Safety Nuts. Note that the Diagonal Braces must bolt to the Base Piece on the same side as the End Ladder. Do not tighten fully yet. Base Piece 2-1/2 x 1/4 Carriage Bolts 20 Bolt the top of the Diagonal Braces to the End Ladder rail using two 3 x 1/4 Carriage Bolts and 1/4 Safety Nuts. The bolts travel first through the top of the Diagonal Brace, then through the End Ladder rail. Now go back and tighten the hardware at the bottom of the Diagonal Braces. STAKE THE SWING SUPPORT FRAME (SEE ILLUSTRATION 33) ILLUSTRATION 33 HARDWARE REQUIRED FOR THIS STEP · Six Stake Nails Find the two 16 Ground Anchor Stakes and the six Stake Nails. For Beam swing supports, they are in Box #12. For Ladder swing supports, they are in Box #8. Ground Level Use 3 Stake Nails Here Pound these into the ground with a heavy hammer at the locations marked with an "X" in Table 4 on page 31. Position Stakes 10 from the end of a Base Piece to avoid cracking the Base Piece. Such cracks would not be covered under our limited warranty. Drive the Stakes in until no more than 3­ 4 are exposed. Nail each Stake to the Base Piece using the 3 Stake Nails provided. Use the pre-drilled holes and three nails for each Stake. Now go to Step 32. 21 ILLUSTRATION 34 Step 32.
