If it is not close to perfectly horizontal, have a helper hold the End Ladder off the ground (the whole Top and End Ladder assembly will pivot on the bolts at Point B) while you dig or pound the earth below the End Ladder down. The bolts pass first through the Metal Bracket, then through the Mounting Baluster into the Safety Nuts. Go back and securely tighten all eight Bolts and Safety Nuts used in this step. If you had to dig the bottom of the End Ladder into the ground to make the Top Ladder horizontal in Step 43, select the higher hole for attachment of the Base Piece. After installation, your Top Ladder should be as horizontal as possible. Base Piece 2-1/2 x 1/4 Carriage Bolts Find the Base Piece and Diagonal Braces for the End Ladder in Box #8. Bolt the Base Piece to the outside bottom of the End Ladder using two 4-1/2 x 1/4 Carriage Bolts and 1/4 Safety Nuts. Loosely bolt the bottom of the Diagonal Braces to the ends of the Base Piece. Use two 2-1/2 x 1/4 Carriage Bolts and 1/4 Safety Nuts. Note that the Diagonal Braces must bolt to the Base Piece on the same side as the End Ladder. Bolt the top of the Diagonal Braces to the End Ladder rail using two 3 x 1/4 Carriage Bolts and 1/4 Safety 26 ILLUSTRATION 45 Nuts. The bolts travel first through the top of the Diagonal Brace, then through the End Ladder rail. Now go back and tighten the hardware at the bottom of the Diagonal Braces. Now go to Step 45. Ground Level Use 3 Stake Nails Here Step 45. FASTEN A HORIZONTAL SUPPORT RAIL FOR THE TABLE TOP (SEE ILLUSTRATION C) Fasten a Horizontal Support Rail as you did in Step 1. This time the top edge must be 27-1/2 up from the bottom of the Uprights. FASTEN THE TABLE LEGS TO THE BOTTOM RAIL Fasten the bottom of the Table Leg to the brown Bottom Rail using two 2" Lag Screws and 5/16" Flat Washers. [. . . ]
