It is not intended for use in places of public assembly such as schools, parks, condominiums, churches and temples, and child care centers. WARNING! Please follow all these Safety, Maintenance, and Assembly Instructions. Failure to do so could result in serious or fatal injury. NOTE TO INSTALLER You must assemble this product in accordance with these Assembly Instructions. [. . . ] The application of adult weight to the equipment as outlined above is a test of safety and strength of the parts. It is not to be interpreted as recommending or suggesting that adults use our products in any way other than in testing, except as noted above. GROUND ANCHOR STAKES Inspect all stakes to ensure they are securely embedded in the ground and are in full contact with and securely nailed to the Base Pieces and Uprights. To test, pull up on the Bottom Crossarms, Diagonal Braces, and Base Pieces. Test at the beginning of the usage season and monthly during the usage season. Stakes may become loose in early spring due to seasonal moisture. Where soil is particularly sandy, additional stakes may be required. These are available from your point of purchase. Ensure that the tops of the stakes do not protrude above Bottom Crossarms or Base Pieces to prevent tripping or injury resulting from a fall. continued next page Stand-Alone Monkey Bars 5 MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS SWING SEATS Remove plastic swing seats and take indoors or do not use when the temperature drops below 0ºF. Make sure swings travel at right angles to the (cont. ) swing support, not into the paths of adjacent swings. Adjust the length of swing ropes to straighten the line of travel. ROPES All ropes gradually deteriorate in the weather and through use. Follow the inspection and testing procedures for FRAMES AND RUNGS on previous page. Check all ropes, swing seats, and nets at the beginning of the usage season and monthly thereafter for evidence of deterioration. Immediately remove and replace any items that appear to be weak or broken. Make sure swings travel at right angles to the swing support, not into the paths of adjacent swings. Adjust the length of swing ropes to straighten the line of travel. MOVEMENT OF SWING FRAMES Some swaying of the equipment near the top is normal and to be expected. You may hear "creaking" noises as the children swing. This is also normal, particularly when the equipment is new. If Base Pieces lift off the ground, this indicates that your stakes have loosened. Reinstall or replace them before allowing further use of the equipment. ADDITIONAL ITEMS Any additional items you may have purchased and installed should be maintained in accordance with the instruction manuals provided with those items. REFINISHING Sun and moisture are the enemies of all wood, paint, and stain. Check twice each year for weather cracks in ladder rungs or wooden frame parts and fill with exterior grade crack filler. This will prevent moisture from further penetrating the wood. Look carefully for cracks in exposed end grain. [. . . ] However, each material is only effective when properly maintained. Materials should be checked periodically and replenished to maintain correct depth as determined necessary for your equipment. The choice of a material depends on the type and height of the playground equipment, the availability of the material in your area, and its cost.
